The Stick Shed

The Nationally Heritage listed site will be open over the three days of Murtoa’s Big Weekend, with Saturday offering past employee tours, presenting a glimpse of the working days of the Shed.

The Stick Shed is the largest timber-framed structure still standing in Victoria and is fundamental to Victoria and Australia’s cultural identity. It is an enduring testament to iconic Australian bush ingenuity and a symbol of the growth and strength of the Australian grains industry. Immense in size, the Stick Shed spans the length of five Olympic swimming pools and has been dubbed the ‘Cathedral of the Wimmera’.
